Owners and Agents be-careful where you post your rentals for RENT. There is someone who is re-posting rental ads, at half their rate, same with the security deposit, they never answer their phone or emails if they call, they will call from a blocked line. So unsuspecting people go to the home, call the agent or owner with a sign in the yard and are angry because you haven’t returned their call or email. of course you haven’t received them ( they went to the scammer). They want to meet to see the home, now remember the tenant thinks it is at a reduced rate, but neither party knows this. The tenant thinks one price, the agent/owner is thinking the real home price. You can imagine how mad people are when they find out the real price of the home.
Be-careful, ask questions. Only place your home for rent on sites you know.
One of the people told tenants the home was open just go ahead and go in and look around.
Hire an agent to help you with this, this can be a very strange and dangerous situation.
This situation was reported to the FBI and the Attorney Generals office, both said the same thing, they do not have the budget to investigate this. Just be aware these things happen, make sure someone knows that you have gone to meet a prospective tenant.
